Week 19 Results - Semi-Final Results. Final Week and Banquet coming up! |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
A tad warm this past week, but not bad. At least we had a good wind. The final pairings are set and we are going to go out blazing - blazing hot that is! I've seen forecasts with a high of 103 and heat indexes up to 110 degrees. Hope for favorable humidity and the wind. The wind, similar to last week, is in the forecast. Bring an extra change of clothes to be comfortable at the banquet. The banquet will follow our round this week. Finish your round, change your sweaty clothes (optional) and head inside. Good food and folly to be had. Please do not linger. Skins: One skin! and a well deserved one! Nick hit a nice drive and then a 7 iron to a short putt on the green. Nailed it! Eagle, net Double Eagle! Sweetness! Nick had a good idea for the skins game. We are wanting bigger pots so we don't spend more money on the drink round than we make. Nick did this - this week. It cost him money to shoot an eagle. His idea is to go to $10 skins. This would double the entry fee, but would also make the pots much better. That way the skins are live for each hole and someone that shoots an eagle, he doesn't have to hope the right card is pulled. |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Another great night for golf! Temps in the upper 70's and low 80s in August! The golf gods love Wednesday. We made it through the first week of playoffs. Well some of you made it through. :) All I can say is that there will be no 3-peat champs this year. We had one notable round. Jerry Evans turned up the heat and shot a one under, 35! Amazing!! One more reminder. If you are still in the tournament and your round matters, any subs you utilize must have a handicap established in our league. If in doubt if your potential sub has a handicap, check out the "Score Log". If you are in the "consolation" rounds, you can use anyone for your sub. Skins: Four skins went out this week. We all chipped in and bought a round for the league. I hope you enjoyed it! There is some talk of going back to the drawing of cards for the skin hole(s) next year. Then we'd get some large carryover pots rolling again. Nothing for sure, just some talk. |

Better weather this past week as compared to the super hot and sticky weather the week prior. Temperatures were much better. Still sticky though. This next week has temps in the mid 70s with a dew point of 70. Morning showers should clear out give us a decent evening. The last round of regular play did not bring on much movement in the Leader Board. Our league leader stayed the same, and nobody switched from Blue to Gold bracket, or visa versa. With the tournament rounds coming up. I want to post a reminder. If you are still in the tournament and your round matters (not a Bye round), any subs you utilize must have a handicap established in our league. If in doubt if your potential sub has a handicap, check out the "Score Log". Skins: Fundy was hot - earning two skins! Ruben didn't let him have all the glory. We appreciate the drinky-poo! |

Well, in week 16 we got some not so nice weather. It was as hot as Pluta's placenta! Matt Weddell did it again. He shot a 33 AGAIN! This was his sixth scratch or better round. Silver is his color. This coming round is our last week of regular play. The top of the leaderboard is tight. The first week bye could be earned by any of the top five teams. To add to the excitement, four of the top five are playing each other. 2nd place and 4th place are playing. 3rd place and 5th place are playing each other too. Skins: Rick was the sole winner. Thanks for the drink, buddy! |

We got away with another beautiful night. End of July and we get the low 80's. If you like it hot and humid, next week will be your bag of tea! No notable rounds. Lots of 37's, but no 36's or better. The regular players averaged a net 36. The subs didn't do so well. Took us to a 37 with them factored in. Two weeks remain in the regular season. It goes by too fast. Two weeks to fight your way into the Gold! Top seven teams will be going for the Gold and the last seven play for Blue Balls. I would say that the top 5 might be set. The next 5 will be battling for those last two gold spots. The bottom four might be stuck. Skins: Two winners this week. Pluta hits a skin for the third week in a row. Amazing! We appreciate the drinkie-poo! Pluta, obviously, is the number one earner. |

A bit sticky, but nobody was complaining. At least the recent rains have gotten the roughs greened up. I know I used them. Matt Weddell had another most excellent round. 33! Three under! Outstanding! Skins: Three winners again. Pluta and Dan again. The time joined with Headley. What is up with that! Well Done! |

Oh my! The Golf Gods shined upon us once again. One week of humidity last week, and they came back and gave us a glorious day this week. Temps in the upper 70's and low humidity. Love it! Looks like mid 80's this week, with the humidity back up. At least it'll be windy! Skins: Three winners, split four skins. Mike K. earned two skins. Pluta and Dan got one. Nice shooting! |

Well, the weather started to feel like a Nebraska summer this past week. The "feels like" temps reached into the triple digits. It wasn't horrible, but I think we might get back to some wonderful Wednesday's in the next couple weeks. Harrison Weddell actually got to play this week. There was some miscommunication the prior week. He wasn't going to let the old man be the only Weddell with some highlighted rounds on the Score Log. He rocked his round and shot scratch (36) - one birdie and one bogie. Sweet round! Skins: One winner took the whole enchilada this week! Dean pitched in from off the green on number 7 for a birdie, net eagle. He was happy to buy a round of drinks! Great round and thanks for the round! |

Mother Nature kept the humidity away and we got our 11th incredible golf outing. Now this, I think, should be the end of nice stuff. Forecast for this Wednesday is mid-90's and dewpoints in the low 70's. There won't be much for a breeze either. Beats rain though! I know we need it, but not on Wednesday. As a league, we went from our worst scoring to our best. We average a scratch net (36). Nicely done. One of those scores was quite notable. Matt Tiarks made the game look easy. All pars and then a birdie on the last hole (#9 for us) for a one under, 35. It was awesome! Skins: Back to just two skins that went out. Jason Headley and I, Chris, played against each other and both got a birdie, net eagle. I was a bit late coming in, but we still managed to buy a round. Jason had to leave early, but Matt was very generous with his funds. |

Our awesome weather graced us once again. That might have been the end of the best stretch we have seen. Next week, the first day of summer, will be in the 90's and more humid than we have had so far. The rounds this week were even more one-sided than last week. Five 6 point rounds and two at 5.5 points. Hopefully you on the right side of that hatchet. This week tied for the worst scores. We had an average of 39 net - 3 over our handicap. Skins: This week also did more with the skins. Five holes had a skin won. Four players split the honors and the money. Mike took two skins. Randy had back-to-back skins in the last two weeks. They all pitched in and bought a round for those at the bar (I think winning might be costing them money :) Thanks! |

Another great week for golf. For Position Night. The rounds were awfully one-sided. Four 6 point round, one 4.5 and one 4. We had another notable round from Matt Weddell. Matt shot a 35 - 3 birdies and 2 bogeys. Skins: Four players split the honors and the money. This is Greg's third time collecting funds. He has the league lead in skins. Jeff, Ruben, and Randy got their 2nd skins. |

Once again, beautiful weather. I was thinking 89 degrees... it's going to be HOT!!! However, the humidity was not there and with the nice breeze, it was awesome. We had two notable rounds. Jeff LaMontagne had a scratch round. I knew was on a roll, but didn't realize he was even until the end. Great, solid golf! The other notable round was Jerry's sub, Clint Kracl. This dude set our league low round at a 31! Yes, that is right a 31! Five (5) birdies and four (4) pars and one lip-out to keep him from a 30. Amazing! Skins: Mike and Dean are the winners. Not sure how it all went down, but I think Mike got peer pressured into buying a round. I appreciate the shooter and the Vodka-Cran from Dean! I got it coming and going. Oh yeah, Greg took care of me too. |

Another great Wednesday for golf. Coming into the week, the extended forecast did not look good, but the golf gods blessed us again! This was the worst week for golf scores. The average net score was 39. It also seemed like it was our slowest week too (just a guess there). Skins: Jason and I get our first piece of the pie - hopefully not the last. I got mine off a par, net birdie. I came straggling in a little late to the club house. Jerry hands me the funds and says Jason already bought a round. He was being all "Baller" and wouldn't let me pitch in. So I bought a couple of the other stragglers a drink. It is crazy, no repeats. We have 12 individuals that have won some skin in 5 weeks of play. |

Another great night - weather-wise. The forecast leading up was not so nice, but turned out to be great. I think the cold is behind us (knock on wood). We made it! The tale of the two Matt's. Two notable rounds. Matt Tiarks gets a scratch round! Matt Weddell also is notable again. It wasn't a 34, but a 36. Scratch round. He actually shot his handicap. Still notable. Talking about notable, not a notable round, but we did have a notable shot! ...and I am not talking about Eric at the Waterfall. Brian Sivertson, subbing for his old team, drove the green on number 6 (red). I don't care about silver tees or not, that is a great drive. It also was his first round of the year! Skins: We are spreading the funds out well. No repeats. Other than Mike's two in one night. Greg's round must have been interesting. Two birdies and shot a 50! That must have been a roller coaster ride. |

Golf gods let the storm flair up to our east and allowed us to get our round in without a drop of rain. The temps were great too! I forgot to mention the one notable round we had last week. Matt Weddell shot a 34! Two under! Well this week he did it again. Two under! Amazing. The silver tees are really being kind. Crazy thing is that with all the birdies, no skins for Matt yet. I repeat, yet! We had another notable round to report. Chris Madrigal (Chuck's cousin in-law) shot an 81. He took 9 on every hole! He finished one hole. All others were pickups I think that was a first max score for our league. He was in my foursome. He took it like a champ and it didn't slow us down at all. He has been added to the "sublist", if you want to play with a great guy. Speaking of great guys, Craig Friesen has also been added to the sub list. Many good options on the sub list. Skins: Mike Pluta had lightning strike twice. Birdies, net eagles, on 8 & 9. Barry finally joins the skins and then wins on his 2nd week. I was afraid of that. |

Oh my! The last few years I have been suggesting we start a week or two later in the year. Nobody bit. I am glad we did not move it this year! It was windy, but with temps in the 80's - no problem! It was wonderful! Skins: Jerry got it all setup. We have 26 of 28 possible entrants, resulting in a prize of $130 per week. Remember, that subs are no longer eligible for winning. We had three winners this week. Matt's on #2 came from a 109 yard approach shot that dropped. I wish I could have seen it! |

The golf gods were looking down on us this week. The clouds parted as we were sent to the starting tees and the sun shined down upon us. Looks like we won't be so lucky with the wind in Week 2. There were some awesome scores out there. The league average was a net 37. There were 2 scratch rounds. Both Marty and Barry hit the number! We all need to wish Dan good luck! He is heading out to meet Steve Harvey and film a "Family Feud" episode. I am certain it will be a entertaining episode. I am sure he'll let us know when it is airing. Skins: Well, I didn't quite have the skins setup with our new team. I added them in the following day and Mike had won with a net Eagle on 5. It was a spilt with Nick (net eagle on 8); however, Jerry had paid Nick the whole pot and Nick graciously bought a round. Mike agreed to spilt the round and spilt the change with Nick. Glad my mistake worked out well. Thanks for the cocktails! |
