2018 Final Results

This is our sixth anniversary of being sponsored by Sunbelt and Roger Edgar and this year was just as awesome as the first.  Roger, we surely appreciate the support!  I also want to thank Nick for all his work in handling all the funds and dealing with the course.  I would be remiss if I did not also thank Jerry for running the skins game.  The skins adds so much to the game and I know I miss most of my birdie putts because of it. :)

We were blessed with a nice weather day to cap off a year where we had a majority of great weather Wednesday's this year.   The skins game ended up in a carryover.  $95 will carry into 2019.

It sure was great to see Troy at the banquet, just one week after his heart attack.  He is on track to a full recovery and will easily be ready to play next year.

We had a competitive and interesting playoff.  There was a tie along the way and many upsets.  Great games all around.  See below for a picture of the Champs and further below for the details.  The sheets, of course, have all the details..

2018 Champs! -  The Lebowski Urban Achievers
Josh and Matt

On a side note, Dave Miszuk was the most improved player this year.  He started the season as a 16 handicap and finished as an 11.  Meanwhile, his partner, Randy Pierce, went from an 11 handicap to a 15 -- weird...

Please let me know if will NOT be playing next year; otherwise, I will assume you are in.  I have a waiting list.  Give me names of anyone that wants in.  I will add them to the list.  If you have any ideas or rule change suggestions, please send them to me.  I will keep a list that the commissioners will discuss in our January meeting.

See you next year! - Chris

Description

Place/
Points
Leader(s): Lebowski Urban Achievers (Matt and Josh) - Matt and Josh win the league.  Always contenders, but believe or not, this is the first time they have won the title in all their years together, since 2011.

Gold 1st
Dude Wrz the Cart (Jerry and Marty) - Jerry and Marty, by a far margin, were the team scoring leaders.  However, this league is won in a playoff and there, they made it through one tie to make it to the final match to let it go to Josh and Matt.

Gold 2nd
The GP Group (Greg and Pat) - Greg and Pat were the other half of the tie.  Missed out on the chance of the final match by one stroke.  They were a strong duo this year.  . Gold 3rd

Bassholes (Rick and Dave)  - The Bassholes take out Tim and Troy's team which was being filled in with subs in teh final match. Blue 1st
Point Scoring Leader (PSL):

Barry Phipps - Barry got 1.5 points and Jerry got shutout.  Barry got enough to overtake Jerry and Barry takes this most cherished prize.

Matt Weddell - 2nd mention in a row.  2-under!  That was not his best score.  He shot a 33 earlier in the year.  That is come good golf!

2 34 32
Jason Headley - Jason gets his best score of the year. Sweet round.

5 37 32
Dave Shapland - Dave does it again.  This man must have figured something out.  Of his last 6 rounds, he had 4 of them at 43 or under.  Please share...

9 41 32
Randy Pierce - Randy might have been a total switch with Dave's handicap (see note above), if he didn't post this fantastic round.  Randy's best round of the year.  That is the way to go out.

15 47 32
Dennis Adams - Dennis played a great round as I witnessed first hand.  Driving phenomenally, and taking it to the hole.  It was a thing of beauty.
14 47 33

Score Cards 101:

We have two player teams. Write down the visiting team's lowest handicap's name, then the home teams lowest handicap's name. Then do the same for the highest handicaps. If your two players are tied, you make the call before teeing off the first hole. Please write the first and last name for all subs. If they are a new sub, please note that too. After the line-up, all I care about is that you circle the gross hole score of the player who wins the hole (match play) and your total gross score. That is all that is required.

To figure the handicap holes for match play (the hole you give or take strokes), figure the difference of your handicap and your opponent's handicap. Then the higher handicap gets a stroke on that many holes. They get the strokes on the hardest handicapped holes. The handicap for the holes is indicated on the scorecard. The lower the number, the harder the hole. No more than one stroke is given per hole. Nine is our league maximum of stroke for Match Play.

That is all that is required. My software will calculate everything else. I certainly do not mind if you figure out all the points. It allows me to double check the data entry. If you would like a live tutorial, please ask. It only takes a minute, so please ask.
