Latest News: Round 3 of Playoffs and Final Results

The playoffs are complete, awards are handed out, and our bellies are full.. What a nice evening. We had some good rounds of golf and the dinner/award ceremony was awesome. Prime Rib, Chicken Breast and all the fixings! That was awesome! Thanks again to our illustrious sponsor, Roger! With all the accolades going around Wednesday, we forgot to thank Nick for all he does for the league. Thanks, Nick! Of course none of this would happen without all of you - the players! Thanks for joining us each week. I will miss you all this winter, but we will see you soon enough in April (if not sooner).

Below is the final bracket - all filled out.

Brackets

The shotgun start worked out well. We finished well before dark and we didn't have to deal with aerated greens at all this year. I list off the winners in the Hot Sticks section, but here is a picture of those handsome winners!

Champs!

The skins were on holes 6 & 9. Hole 6 was won by Ruben and Hole 9 was won by none other than... Ruben! He had net eagle on both! He is the first amateur that I know who took a lesson and got paid!

Leader(s):

Gold Flight for 1st- Gin2Win (John and I) played Not Wet Yet (Gary and Scott). Gary had his hands full as John had his best round of the year. I struggled, but John had enough to ensure that we got team. and thus the Championship!

Gold Flight for 3rd - A-Rods (Barry and Dan) played Dude,WhrztheCart (Jerry and Marty). The round came down to the last hole and then the wheels came off the cart (figuratively - the wheels did not come off of Jerry's sweet new ride!). Barry and Dan waltzed into 3rd place.

Blue Flight for 1st - This flight is also known as the "participation awards". You know, those awards they give kids for just showing up even though they have no idea what they are doing out there... Taking 1st in participation was 3 Aces (Nick and Ruben), who handily took care of the Gilutes (Ed and Brian).

Blue Flight for 3rd - Average Sticks and Dirty Balls (Jason and Matt) took out their dirty balls and rubbed them in the face of the Berdawgs (Doug and Jeff). Before they knew what Jason had done to them, they found themselves in 4th! Note: Please don't mention the words "tea bag" in front of Jeff... It isn't pretty..

Point Scoring Leader:

Nobody wanted to be the point score leader, Matt got zipped, Roger got a half point, and I got zipped. So, Roger's half point was not enough. and Matt Weddell keeps his place in the lead and earns the honors

Ruben Lopez - I am glad Ruben waited until the end of the year to take a lesson. A few weeks earlier and we all would have been in trouble. Second week in a row with the lowest net. Second week in a row taking the skins. Wow!

..
If your tee shot on either of the holes below is played into the water, you can use the options available under the Water Hazard Rules or use the indicated drop areas.

Hole Drop Area

#4 on Hammerhead (Blue Course) Drop Area is the Red Tee Box
(keep your pants on and "No, you may not tee it up")
Score Cards 101:

We have two player teams. Write down the visiting team's lowest handicap's name, then the home teams lowest handicap's name. Then do the same for the highest handicaps. If your two players are tied, you make the call before teeing off the first hole. Please write the first and last name for all subs. If they are a new sub, please note that too. After the line-up, all I care about is that you circle the gross hole score of the player who wins the hole (match play) and your total gross score. That is all that is required.

To figure the handicap holes for match play (the hole you give or take strokes), figure the difference of your handicap and your opponent's handicap. Then the higher handicap gets a stroke on that many holes. They get the strokes on the hardest handicapped holes. The handicap for the holes is indicated on the scorecard. The lower the number, the harder the hole. No more than one stroke is given per hole. Nine is our league maximum of stroke for Match Play.

That is all that is required. My software will calculate everything else. I certainly do not mind if you figure out all the points. It allows me to double check the data entry. If you would like a live tutorial, please ask. It only takes a minute, so please ask.
